Anchored to the landscape in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, a richly articulated brutalist building is in direct relationship with the extremes of its environment.
The interior matches the visceral quality of the architecture — forged in a philosophy of restraint, depth and shadow. Deliberate enclosure holds robust materials in tension with granular substance and sculptural relief.
Structural planes become platforms for discreet indirect lighting. Grain, lime and rust perform as reflectors, gently illuminating the industrial-scale space, providing a textural atmosphere of warmth and stillness.
At the centre of the architectural arrangement is a detached Yoga Studio. A sanctuary for respite and movement, open to garden and sea breeze. Fragrant Japanese tatami flush-mounted into concrete, a circular skylight framing the sun salutation and curved timber-clad walls, which temper the acoustic experience.
Contemporary and vintage Italian furniture, fine sculptural objects and supple textures were curated as a freestanding installation within the brutalist container — softening the architecture at the human scale and completing this family residence of comfort, generosity and refinement.

Above a wild dune on Bass Strait, House On A Dune holds a welcoming presence within the native foreshore landscape.
A T-shaped plan is resolved around the daily rituals of coastal living and a shared love of activity in nature. The house breathes with the rhythm of its occupants — arranged to cocoon its core owners or expand with ease to accommodate larger gatherings of friends and family.
The thoughtfully considered architecture is deftly resolved with quiet confidence. Earthy, understated and at home in its natural setting.
A masterclass of variety and discovery on a coastal block, the landscape design responds to the seasons and shelters local wildlife, drawing the outside world in.
The interior reflects the architecture and surrounding environment with warmth, simplicity and unadorned honesty. Material tones were drawn from the landscape — sage-green of sea and garden, blonde of wind-blown dune, silver of weathering tea-tree and coastal scrub.
An approachable residence crafted for those who give weight to simplicity, ease and the unhurried pleasures of a life lived in close company with the sea.
